Question: How long does it take to sweep a chimney?
Answer: If it is a straightforward sweep, then usually within the hour.
Question: Should I cover everything in the room?
Answer: This is not normally necessary, however, it is always better to
err on the side of caution, and cover your furniture. We protect the walk
through and floor area where we are working. We also seal up around
the fireplace to minimise the amount of soot that creeps into the room. Question: Do I need a chimney pot?
Answer: We always recommend a chimney pot, which will deflect smoke
away from the building and keep brickwork at the top of the chimney
stack together. It will also deter birds from entering the chimney. Question: Do I need a chimney cowl?
Answer: We always recommend a chimney cowl. This will maximise
the performance of a chimney as well as being an aid to keeping out
adverse weather conditions and our feathered friends! Question: Is it possible to tell if a chimney flue and stack are in good
condition?
Answer: As a matter of course, we will try to assess the condition of the
chimney as we sweep and will also carry out a visual inspection. We
can normally tell by looking at the stack outside whether it is safe or if
there is a defect in the flue. We can also ascertain if the flue requires
maintenance of some kind. Question: Should I have my chimney lined?
Answer: This is only necessary under certain situations i.e if there is a
fault in the chimney flue, if you are requiring a wood burning stove or in
the case of some gas fires. Question: What other services do you carry out?
Answer: We carry out all work related to chimneys. All of our services are
on the service page.

registered installers.

Guernsey on 1 April 2010.
